COMICCON 2026

Review by Sergio Martínez

Once again, this now-traditional celebration of popular culture in Montreal drew thousands of visitors to the Palais des congrès from July 3 to 5. Ron Perlman, Lea Thompson, and Robert Englund were this year’s guests of honour. The event’s opening featured a preview of Cirque du Soleil’s latest show, *Echo*.

As always, this popular event saw enthusiastic participation from many attendees in cosplay; in addition to the traditional superhero costumes, there was an abundance of characters from TV series and anime.

The Palais’s grand hall hosted more than a hundred exhibitors, ranging from renowned comic book artists to artisans in various fields, as well as booths offering comic books and miniature figures of characters from TV shows and movies.

Equally appealing were the live performances, which this year included James Masters Live with his band on July 3, Galactic Empire on July 4, Le Naheulband on July 5, and, of course, the Cosplay Grand Finale on the event’s final day.

According to the organizers’ final report, this year’s ComicCon Montreal broke an attendance record with more than 67,000 attendees.

Very pleased with the reception this event—launched in 2009—has received from the Montreal public, the organizers have already announced the next edition, scheduled for July 2–4.
